On Tuesday 8th March 2011 at 2.30pm in the Trinity Methodist Church in Durban, Adam Ross Olivier and Nicole Potgieter were married.
Sounds pretty dry when you say it like that hey! You know God gives us incredible opportunities to be His bringer of love, grace and mercy to the world. This was one of the times that He has given me an opportunity to be a part of people’s lives. And many a times it has not been easy and often you just feel like giving up and quitting on people but His love sustains your love for your loved ones.
While I was sitting in the church listening to them exchange their vows I just wept with joy and gratitude, thanking our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ for His love, grace and mercy. Wow what a moment His Holy Spirit just washed over me and I wept. Yep of course I tried my best not to cry (I mean I’m a man!) but then it all flooded through my soul, what a washing of love.
On the practical side Adam and Nicole flew us up to Durban (1,200km’s/791miles away) on the Monday evening and from there on in it was all systems go until we flew back to Cape Town on Wednesday afternoon. It was a hectic time of travelling up and down and meeting people. What a blessing to be involved in this occasion and me I’m the step-dad! It just makes it even more awesome. To think that God knew this all before we were even born and then gave us as gifts to each other.
Below is one of the songs by Warren Barfield that Adam and Nicole played at their wedding.
Love is Not A Fight
Love is not a place
To come and go as we please
It's a house we enter in
Then commit to never leave
So lock the door behind you
Throw away the key
Work it out together
Let it bring us to our knees
Love is a shelter in a raging storm
Love is peace in the middle of a war
And if we try to leave, may God send angels to guard the door
No, Love is not a fight but it’s something worth fighting for
To some love is a word
That they can fall into.
But when they're falling out
Keeping that word is hard to do
Love is a shelter in a raging storm
Love is peace in the middle of a war
And if we try to leave, may God send angels to guard the door
No, Love is not a fight but it’s something worth fighting for
Love will come to save us
If we'll only call
He will ask nothing from us
But demand we give our all
Love is a shelter in a raging storm
Love is peace in the middle of a war
And if we try to leave, may God send angels to guard the door
No, Love is not a fight but it’s something worth fighting for.
Yes I Will Fight For You
Would You Fight For Me
It's Worth Fighting For.
To come and go as we please
It's a house we enter in
Then commit to never leave
So lock the door behind you
Throw away the key
Work it out together
Let it bring us to our knees
Love is a shelter in a raging storm

Would You Fight For Me
It's Worth Fighting For.
Yes it is truly worth fighting for!!
